So, I'm currently staying up in order to nab good Radiohead tickets. Seven people (so far) have asked me to get them tickets, but if I'm the one losing sleep, I'm the one getting the tickets. To fill the time, I'm writing a review for The Maneater on the new Kylie Minogue album, which it turns out is mostly shite. The only problem is that I'm pretty much obsessed with "2 Hearts." It's a strange soundtrack for my early Valentine's Day quest for Radiohead tickets, but I'm OK with it.
Please be mine soon:

So, I saw Girl Talk today and pretty much died of thrashdancing on stage/sweating/having my ass grabbed/sweating. And it was awesome. |

So, today I almost deleted my lj, but instead, I just deleted the majority of my old posts. I don't really use this anymore. I know this sounds dramatic, but it was really weird going over my old entries and seeing how much I used to like UIL and the Chronicle, like it was all a game or something. And now it's real life.
My favorite entry was definitely the one in which I discovered Arctic Monkeys a few years ago. Who saw Montreal coming?
I have like, negative money left in my account this month, but I went online and ordered a purple hoodie and some sunglasses from americanapparel.com anyway. Whatev. That's my college life, for you. My Art Brut interview was likely my favorite thing I've ever done. http://www.themaneater.com/move/
I've had a really hard time with death lately, but I'm better now.

Blonde Redhead, LCD Soundsystem, Kaiser Chiefs, Sound Team, Paolo Nutini, Arctic Monkeys, Arcade Fire
Most hilarious moment= Blue October threw a setlist at me (We had to wait through them to see Arctic Monkeys, which SUCKED) and I yelled out "Does anybody want this Blue October setlist?" Crickets chirped. I dropped it.
Oh, and they also dedicated a song to "people who know about H.R.S.A.: high-risk self abuse." |

So far, Mizzou is great. My parking spot is on my street, as opposed to three miles away. I'm comfortable with my class load, although they start Monday. I am a member of the College Democrats Association, and I start work for the school paper on Monday. I'm going to the gym for my first work-out session tomorrow, and next Sunday I start training to be a DJ for the radio station. The only creepy thing is that my floor is co-ed and the guys are always in the girls bathroom. Weird. |

Tony Wilson, Factory Records creator and one of the most influential members of the 1980s Madchester scene, died today of cancer. He was responsible for letting the world onto Joy Division, New Order, Happy Mondays, the Durutti Column, and lots of other great bands, and his life was memorialized in the movie 24-Hour Party People.
So sad.

So, yesterday Alex and I decided to spend the day/ night in L.A. instead of San Francisco. We went to see Kaiser Chiefs at the Music Room, and we waited for like four hours, but it was worth it. We met the bassist and two roadies, took a picture with Plus, Ricky Wilson (lead singer) got into the crowd right between the two of us and held my hand for 20 seconds. But the best part was definitely that after the show, one of the roadies we met earlier (Dan) looked for us and pulled drumsticks and set lists out from under his jacket to give to us. It was totally worth the midnight to 8 a.m. drive to get back to our hotel in San Francisco.
Today = Mountain View music festival |

Edgefest = losing both of my shoes in a mosh pit, getting hit in the face more than I ever want to, and walking back to the car barefoot, but it was worth it. Alex and I met Placebo and the Kaiser Chiefs, and we have all of their autographs. And here are some pictures from front row center.

Today, I was almost really late to school. I had to pick up two people, and I parked really strangely in the parking lot. When I got back to my car after school, there was a note on my front windshield. "Learn how to park. Try the lines." Haha, I am pretty sure I know who wrote it, and I am pretty sure I find it hilarious, and I am pretty sure I shouldn't.
I started work at the San Antonio Current today. I love it, even though it is all the way over on N. St. Mary's. It took me like, an hour to get there. The building is purple on the outside and green/red/blue on the inside. It's really artsy, and everyone looks like they belong. And they wear jeans. My editor is really tiny and completely insane. I will get my first assignments on Tuesday when I go to the board meeting, and I can't wait |

My family is definitely of the pale variety, but I seem to be the only one viciously attacked by the sun during our trip this weekend. I look like a lobster. |

So, I spent the last two days in Austin with Elizabeth and Priscila. While there we got lost, were late to everything, did countless hours of vintage shopping, and met the strangest people on the planet. But yeah. Elizabeth and I have decided that we are an old married couple, and Priscila is "the baby." (She has no name, and she has to be between us at all times, LOL.) We've had a lot of fun.
Quotes of the weekend:
-"I just love it!" -"Get in the car!" -"We've got two lesbians and a square in the back..." (this quote and the previous one were actually yelled at us out of a car window by this guy heading to First Friday) -"Oh, Elizabeth." *sighhhh* -"There's only one dead midget!"
Haha, lots of fun. We got lost over 404654063507320926456 times, and Elizabeth has a knack for choosing the WORST gas stations on the planet. And the newspaper won an award, so cool. Today we went shopping, and this man who smelled like marijuana tried to like, eat us. I was pretty uncomfortable, and Elizabeth drank half of my milkshake.
I like the Arctic Monkeys. A lot. I just love them. |
